Ashanti Douglas, popularly called Ashanti was is born in Glen Cove New York United States on 13th October 1980. She is an American singer and songwriter. Ashanti began her professional career as a teenager, then was eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. In the same year, she was in Fat Joe's What's Luv? Both Fat Joe's What's Luv? It was the first time for a female artist to hold the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at the top spot and Luv? at number two. Luv? It was the first female artist to have both of the Top two spots on the American Billboard Hot 100 With Foolish as number one and What's Love? Let's celebrate this momentous occasion by celebrating it together. Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, also known by the name Ashanti was born in Glen Cove New York on the 13th of October, 1980. Tina Douglas is the mother of Ashanti and Ken Kaide Douglas is her father. Kenashia Schia Douglas, her younger sister is older. Douglas chose the name Ashanti Shia Douglas to honor the Ashanti Empire of Ghana in which women were powerful and influential. Douglas wanted Ashantis to follow this example. James her grandfather was a prominent civil rights activist who was a close friend of Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Ashanti's mother discovered her daughter's talents as she listened to her sing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti appeared in Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) as well as Ted Demme's Who's the Man? as an unidentified young actor. Some of her appearances appeared in music video clip including K.R.S. Act One's MC's"Like They're Not Known" and 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. Ashanti was sought out and signed by a variety of recording labels, including Bad Boy. She also appeared in a couple of music videos. She continued to perform throughout New York, and she began to hang around the Murder Inc. studios hoping to get a break. Ashanti appeared originally on the track by Big Pun called How We Roll, as a back vocalist. Ashanti also sang on Fat Joe's song"What's Luv?" Ja Rule's always on time and Fat Jojo's What's Luv? also featured her. Ashanti sampled the track of 1983 by DeBarge Stay with Me in her debut track Foolish. Ashanti's first self-titled album was released by Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration is Ashanti's forth studio album. The album was released on Murder Inc. on June 3, 2008. The 16th of October Hey Baby (After the Club) was made available to the radio and online outlets. She has acted in the movies Christmas in the City as and Army Wives. Aitch was a sampler of Rock wit U in his Baby on March 10, 2022.
